We can't say enough
good things about this trip. It was an outstanding experience
- both emotionally and intellectually. The images of China are still floating in our
mind, and we feel so strongly attached to the place the Chinese people,
and, of course, to our history there. Our thanks to you for
making this experience possible. We felt it an honor to meet Xu Xin
and to have the opportunity to learn from him. Many of our friends
have expressed an interest in making this trip. Shall we give
them your email? Thank you again.

The trip was spectacular! China is the most exciting country
I have ever visited, and the tour conducted by Xu Xin was entertaining,
enlightening and all-around wonderful. Iris and I cannot thank you
and him enough for making this experience available to us. I am currently
editing the 1,000+ digital pictures I took, in preparation for up-loading
them to the Web and making them available to you and the others on
the trip.

David,
Esther and I just returned from the trip of a lifetime!
Our group was great and Professor Xu Xin is beyond
words. He knows more about Jewish law, history and customs than
almost anyone I know. When he talked about things such as Jews
in China or the relations between Israel and China, our entire group was riveted.
The cities we visited were fascinating. Shabbat services and
dinner with the Jewish community in Beijing
was wonderful. I regret not exchanging addresses with the people
we met there. The Russian and Jewish artifacts Harbin were amazing. It was something
to visit the building that housed the Jewish school there, and it
was memorable going to the Jewish cemetery in Harbin.
I will never forget meeting Moshe and
the other descendants of Jews in Kaifeng. It felt like we
were meeting family.
Shanghai was much like New York, only twice as big! It is
beautiful to see how it lights up at night. And its architecture
is amazing. It was exciting seeing the Great Wall and even more
exciting climbing it. The Forbidden City
was much more than I ever would have expected. The Chinese acrobats
defied gravity. The Terra Cotta Army of 8,000 soldiers is a
Wonder of the World.
David, thank you for organizing this trip!

Xu Xin was a marvel. His expertise in so many areas was amazing. The
bus rides were never boring, because we were so involved in listening
to his lectures. But more than this, his personal involvement was
very gratifying. He was involved in every detail of scheduling, making
changes flexibly as necessary. He was unfailingly tactful. He was
so concerned with our needs and had so much energy that he even poured
our coffee when he had a moment. He is a compact bundle of brains
and energy.

leader is fantastic, the sights and information outstanding, the care
shown out of this world. We can't recommend it highly enough. Prof.
